# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • It tastes like a coffee shop drink but costs pennies and takes less time than waiting in line.
  • The brown sugar syrup has this deep, almost toffee-like flavor that regular sugar just can't match.
  • Shaking it makes it frothy and smooth, like it's been through an expensive machine.
  • You can make the syrup ahead and keep it in the fridge for quick mornings all week.
02 -
  • Let the syrup cool completely before adding it to the shaker, or it'll melt the ice and make the drink watery instead of frothy.
  • Shake it longer than you think you need to—fifteen seconds feels like forever, but that's what gives you the creamy, foamy texture.
  • Use chilled oat milk straight from the fridge, because room temperature milk won't froth up as well and the drink won't be as cold.
03 -
  • Make a double or triple batch of syrup and store it in the fridge so you can make this drink in under two minutes on busy mornings.
  • Use a barista-style oat milk if you can find it—it froths up even better and makes the drink taste like it came from a cafe.
  • Shake it over the sink the first few times until you're sure the lid is tight, because I've definitely sprayed coffee all over my counter before.
