Goulash with Beef and Turkey (Print View)

01 - 1.1 lbs beef stew meat or ground turkey

02 - 1 large onion, finely chopped
03 - 2 garlic cloves, minced

05 - 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes
06 - 2 tbsp tomato paste

07 - 8 oz short pasta (elbow macaroni or rotini)
08 - 2 tbsp vegetable oil or olive oil
09 - 2 cups beef or chicken broth
10 - 1 tsp paprika
11 - 1 tsp dried oregano
12 - 1 tsp dried basil
13 - ½ tsp ground black pepper
14 - 1 tsp salt, or to taste

15 - ½ tsp chili powder
16 - Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

# Directions:

01 - Heat oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add beef or turkey and brown evenly on all sides, about 5 to 7 minutes.
02 - Add onion and green bell pepper to the pot; sauté until softened, approximately 3 minutes.
03 - Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
04 - Add tomato paste, paprika, oregano, basil, salt, and black pepper. Stir thoroughly to coat meat and vegetables.
05 - Pour diced tomatoes and broth into the pot. Bring to a simmer, cover, and cook for 15 minutes if using turkey, or 25 minutes if using beef, until meat is tender.
06 - Add pasta, stir well, cover, and cook for 10 to 12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pasta is tender and most liquid is absorbed.
07 - Taste and adjust seasoning as needed. Serve hot, garnished with fresh chopped parsley if desired.
